Andalusian foothill city with Moorish heritage and the strongest free-tapas tradition in Spain.
Granada is anchored by the Alhambra, which is genuinely worth the trip on its own — the Sierra Nevada in the distance, the Albayzín on the hill across the valley, and Sacromonte's flamenco caves above it together make a tighter trip than Madrid or Seville. Two to three nights is the right scale.
