Yes if you want to reach the mountain villages, Apollonas, or the southern beaches without a tour group — the island bus network covers basics but is slow. Scooters work for shorter distances. A car or scooter unlocks Naxos's range; without one you're effectively limited to Chora + nearby beaches.
